The Barbour Beaufort Wax Jacket has all the characteristics you recognise and appreciate from the classic Barbour style. Initially designed by Chairman Madame Margaret Barbour in 1983, the Beaufort is one of Barbour’s most recognisable waxed jacket designs and is truly the perfect classic, all-season jacket. Fit-for-purpose, and constructed from medium-weight 6-ounce Thornproof waxed cotton, the jacket features a removable liner and optional hood, windproof ‘hook and loop’ tape cuffs, and the practical stud-close corduroy collar. The Beaufort keeps you safe and secure from all kinds of weather. This casual-fit jacket has a two-way purposeful front ring-pull zipper with studded ‘Stormfly’ closure, two large front bellows pockets as well as two side handwarmer pockets. Influenced from French shooting jackets, the Beaufort is shorter than conventional jackets and features a huge practical full-width, lined, Nylon back pocket suitable for carrying game. Older style Beaufort jackets had their own Gordon Dress tartan, the regimental tartan of the famous Gordon Highlanders. The contemporary Beaufort jacket lining uses the classic Barbour tartan inspired by the tartan ‘sett’ pattern of Ayrshire, the original home of the Barbour family.
